I can’t bare hiding behind this veil!
Hello world, I’m Ginnie Tucker
Perhaps it’s all the Ionian Sea air here in Greece but one thing is for certain:
Life is all about living and too short to worry about what others may think of me or the opinions I express here.
This blog started out in anonymity because of my over concern and caution at perhaps writing something,no matter how trifle, that might stir up the Saudis.
One woman working here was deported for posting a photo on Face Book showing her drinking wine in her home. Here, alcohol is forbidden, there are no cinemas, women are not permitted to drive, nor swim in public pools and they must cover up in abayas and veils.
Unfortunately, I have observed, up close and personal, the way –some- deride and put down those, who have come here to share decades of their professional experience to build up Riyadh- with no thanks whatsoever.
Many expats here simply go to work for their daily kick up the backside by people who were wondering in the desert on camels just 60 years ago.
I say, forget the salary and perks and keep your dignity…
…let’s all go home and leave them to it.
